Polycarbonate flat sheets are unique products with a super safety factor and it is an ideal product for glass replacement applications. These sheets, in addition to light weight and color stability have a very high impact resistance and are almost non-fragile and in the event of natural disasters such as earthquakes, the risks of glass failure are reduced to zero. The growing use of polycarbonate sheets in greenhouses, in the event of designing and selecting appropriate materials, aside from less energy consumption and more efficiency is promising for converting this industry to one of the most profitable agricultural sectors. Since the use and installation of these sheets is very easy, they are used as a replacement for glass, windows and Shatterproof, pedestrian bridges, bus stations, automotive industries, and so on.

The higher thicknesses of these sheets were resistant to bullets impact and are recommended for all places that have potential of physical impact such as banks, jewelry stores, museums, and places for money transfers, etc. In the production of RFX sheets, very sophisticated technology is used. By comparing the coefficient of total heat transfer (u value) of twin-wall sheets (with a thickness of 6 mm) with nylons used in greenhouses (with a thickness of 50 microns):

ΔU = 3.5 w / m2.k0 ~ 50%

U 50 μm PE = 7.1 w / m2.k01.

  1. Given the issue of eliminating fuel subsidies, the use of these sheets, is a good solution to reduce the cost of greenhouse products due to maintaining the temperature of the environment.
  2. Polycarbonate sheets benefit a much higher lifetime and durability than polyethylene (nylon greenhouses). The maximum nylon life is 3 years while polycarbonate sheets have a useful life of over 10 years. Nylons used in greenhouses are rapidly degraded by UVV rays and lose their properties. While polycarbonate sheets are covered by a anti-UV coating layer with 500 micron thickness when they are produced (which its covers is only equal to thickness of a greenhouse nylon) that protects the sheet and the plants inside the greenhouse from damage of harmful solar radiation.
  3. Maintenance and replacement costs for nylon are far higher than polycarbonate sheets.
  4. Due to the lightness of the twin-wall sheets, its installation does not require support and special and heavy columns, and while these sheets have the ability of bending and even swinging due to their particular structure.
  5. The ability to control and reduce the amount of light passing by the selection of semi-opaque or milky sheets is possible in polycarbonate sheets for some plants that are sensitive to direct sunlight, the work usually done by greenhouses owners by locating soil on ordinary nylons to reduce the amount of light passing through it.
  6. Polycarbonate resistance to wind and storm is not comparable to polyethylene nylon and the possibility of designing valves and opening windows is easily possible when using these sheets.
  7. Washing of polycarbonate sheets is done simply and is carried out as usual washing (using a water hose).
